Well, if I've learned just one thing over the past few weeks, it's that traveling with two babies is hard....I mean, the amount of stuff that you need to travel with two babies is unbelievable. This, I learned, over Thanksgiving. Atlanta to Albertville to Auburn and back to Atlanta. Whew....that was a tough one! Lots of stuff, but fortunately not as many tears in the car as I imagined.
During our travels, I had the great experience of going to the Auburn/Alabama game with my Dad, brother, and sister. We had a great time, and I think this might actually be the first time that just the 4 of us have done something together. To make things even better, the game turned out just as I hoped. Auburn played a great game, but Bama pulled out a win to continue their quest for the National Championship. (Side note: David kept BOTH babies while I went to the game....THANKS, HONEY!)
Unfortunately, over Thanksgiving weekend, Allie came down with a horrible cold. She was absolutely miserable. After unsuccessfully trying to have her seen by a doctor in Auburn on Saturday afternoon, we got her home Sunday, and when she got up last Monday morning, I noticed that her eyes looked really red. Off to the doctor we went. Diagnosis: Pink Eye and an ear infection. Treatment: 10 days of oral antiobtics and eye drops (3 TIMES A DAY!!!). UGH....how many of you have tried to put eye drops into the eyes of an 18 month old?....not my idea of fun!
So, we've spent our last week and a half treating pink eye and an ear infection, wiping runny noses, and dealing with the horrible side effects of an antibiotic (the most horrible diaper rash that you've ever seen resulting in Allie walking around all day saying "hurt, booty, hurt" and crying each time she had to have her diaper changed). As expected, Will ended up with the cold too which made his feeding and sleeping really difficult (have you tried to suck on a bottle or a paci when you can't breath through your nose? me either, but apparently it's virtually impossible!). He did manage to dodge the pink eye and ear infection though.
Just when I thought we were through the worst part, today Allie developed another fever...pretty high this time (almost 103). I'm hoping this is just an unfortunate side effect of the H1N1 vaccine that she got yesterday....I guess tomorrow will tell.
During all of this sickness, we did manage to watch the SEC Championship game....
and we also managed to get the Christmas decorations up for the babies....Allie is already talking about how Santa brings toys to good girls! She's trying really hard to be one of those good girls....
Can't wait for Christmas morning!!!
Nikki
