On Thursday of this week, Allie turned 18 months old. It's so hard to believe! I can't believe that my "baby" is already a toddler! David and I took Allie to her pediatrician for her 18 month visit....and shots :-( While we were there, we learned what we already thought we knew....Allie is about 6 months ahead in her language development. Yes, she is quite a talker! When the doc asked me if she could say at least 10 words, I had to laugh. She asked me how many words Allie could say, and my response was "hundreds". Literally, I think the child can say a couple hundred words!
When it came to her measurements, Allie's length was 34 1/4 inches (95th percentile for an 18 month old, 50th percentile for a 2 year old), and her weight was 27 pounds, 2 ounces (~80th percentile for an 18 month old). So, she is quite tall for her age, as we already knew (I've already been buying her 24 month size clothes and they are getting short!), and her weight is just fine for her height.
And of course, Allie did not enjoy the shots, but these should be her last shots for another 6 months (unless I can manage to get her the H1N1 flu shot somewhere!). I think she has one more round of shots at her 2 year visit, and then no more until she is 4! Won't that be GREAT?!
Here's a cute video of Allie watching the BAMA vs LSU game a couple of weeks ago. Forgot to post it earlier....it's a cute one.
We had another big birthday in our house this week. Will was 3 months old on Wednesday. I just can't believe that he is already 3 months old. Trust me when I tell you that the last 3 months of pregnancy don't go by nearly as fast as the first 3 months of life! Will is such a doll. He smiles ALL the time. If he cries, he's either hungry or sleepy. If he is sleepy, just take him and lay him down and off to sleep he goes. He goes to bed each night at 6-6:30pm, takes a bottle at ~9:30pm, and then not another one until ~6:30am when he then goes back to sleep until ~8:30am. How lucky am I? We'll see if that trend continues tonight. Tonight is Will's first night sleeping in his crib in the nursery. I've put him in the crib for a few naps, and he certainly doesn't love it like the loves the Pack-n-Play in our bedroom. He actually cried for a few minutes during 2 of his 3 naps today, and he cried for about 10 minutes when I put him in the crib at night. I guess it will just take him a little while to learn to love it.....we'll see if I get any sleep at all tonight!
Will is also doing lots of "cooing" and laughing. I haven't managed to capture much of it on video yet, but this video will give you a little taste of his "voice".
Tonight, I think Will found his hands/arms for the first time. He was staring cross-eyed at the cars on his shirt right around his wrist. It's was so funny to see him try to focus on his hands and figure out what they are....FUN TIMES!

Dinner with Elmo!
Although we don't get over to Druid Hills Golf Club as much as we would like for the golf, we do manage to make time to get over there for DINNER WITH ELMO! How could I resist taking Allie to have dinner with Elmo? After all, any of you that have spent more than 2 minutes with Allie know that she is nuts about that little red monster, as much of her day is spent exclaiming "Elmo! Elmo! Elmo!"
Unfortunately, David was out of town and wouldn't be able to join us, but I loaded up the kids and we met Grandma and PawPaw at Druid Hills for dinner on Wednesday night. When we first saw Elmo (and yes, I do realize that this is the ugliest Elmo costume that exists on this earth!), Allie was a little hesitant, but after me holding her next to him for just a moment, she fell in love! We had the hardest time dragging her away from him....she had truly met her best friend in the flesh! After many ups and downs during the evening....lots of hugs and kisses, and then screaming when we pulled her away to give the other kids a chance to see him.....Allie gave Elmo one last hug and kiss and told him "bye bye" and we managed to leave peacefully.
So, now I have the perfect plan for her 2nd birthday party.....I'll rent the costume, who's willing to put it on????

Halloween....and other happenings
Ok, so I know that I'm really late on this post, but I have to tell you.....having an infant and a toddler is a busy, busy 24-7 job! I just can't seem to find time to update everyone on what's going on in our life. Bare with me over the next few months as I continue to try to adjust.
Now, on to Halloween....
Unfortunately, it was rainy and yucky here on Halloween, so we didn't get to take the kids out trick-or-treating, but we did grab a couple of photos of them together. Earlier this fall I let Allie pick out her Halloween costume from a catalogue that had lots of different costumes. She chose the monkey....she loves monkeys. I wasn't planning on dressing Will up this year, but rather I was just going to put a Halloween shirt on him. A week or so after I ordered Allie's monkey costume, I got another catalogue of costumes and found the perfect costume for Will....a banana! So, here's our little monkey with her banana.....
The day before Halloween, Allie had a Halloween party at school complete with a costume parade, pizza party, and decorating cookies and pumpkins.
Will continues to grow and change every day. He's such a big boy now! He's becoming a good sleeper like his big sister. He usually goes to bed about 5:30-6:30pm, then takes a bottle at about 9:30pm, and doesn't take another until about 6am. This past Friday night we put both babies to bed at 7pm. Will took a bottle at 10pm and another at 6:30 am, and then I HAD TO WAKE HIM AT 9:30AM! I guess he was planning on sleeping all day. Allie, of course, slept until 8:30am....that's not unusual for her.
Will is also smiling and laughing a lot, and he has began to coo. It's very sweet. I expect that he will find his hands any day now. I'm also thinking about starting his move out into his big boy crib soon. He took his first nap(s) there yesterday. I'm not sure that he loves it just yet....he slept about an hour for his first nap, but his later two naps were only 20 minutes each. We'll keep working on it though, and I'm sure he'll learn to love his crib as much as Allie does.
Allie is such a big girl now! Her favorite thing over this last week is reading. All day long she brings me books and says "read, read, read". Now, I'm thrilled that she loves books, and I'm more than happy to read to her as much as I can, but I really wish that she wouldn't make us read the same book over and over and over. I'll ask her to go get me a different book, which she does, but she'll only let me read 1-2 pages of the new book before she takes it out of my hands and gives me her "book of the day".....again!
More evidence of Allie growing up.....she gave up the pacifier last Thursday! Well, I guess I can't really say that she "gave it up". I took it away from her, but she didn't really put up a fight. Allie only used her paci at nap and bedtime, but she did love it. We were encouraged by Allie's pediatrician to get rid of the paci by 18 months, so I decided that last Thursday was the day. During her morning nap, she cried hard for ~15 minutes yelling "Mommy, Mommy!". After 15 minutes (my heart was breaking), I went in to her room to reassure her that I was there. I told her to lay down and go night-night....and she did! Not another tear. She didn't cry any more...not during her afternoon nap, and not at all at night. She has not cried another tear for the paci. And, she hasn't even tried to take Will's paci from him! She has asked for paci a couple of times when getting ready to go down for a nap or go to bed at night, but I just ignore her and hand her a stuffed animal. She's such a big girl!!!!
As always, Allie has been entertaining us over the last couple of weeks. She seems to be experimenting with taking her clothes off when she wakes up in the morning or from naps. Two out of the past three mornings, David has found Allie with her PJs completely unzipped when he gets her out of the crib.
After her morning nap today, this is what I went in to find.....
Not sure what she is up to, but it sure is funny to walk in and find a half-naked baby in the bed.
As you can see in the picture above of Allie in her unzipped PJs, she is carrying around a toothbrush. Allie LOVES to brush her teeth, and many times during the day will start yelling "teeth, teeth!" wanting me to get her toothbrush for her so that she can brush her teeth. I guess there could be worse things, huh?
Allie's also re-discovered her sunglasses this past week. She wants to wear her "gasses" all the time....she doesn't always get them on the right, but she tries!
There's so much more....but I don't want to bore you....
:-)
