Allie and David and their first Father-Daughter dance

It couldn't have been a more perfect evening. Allie took a late nap and then woke up to eat a quick dinner and get ready for her first Father-Daughter dance at Druid Hills Golf Club. Although David could have handled this all on his own, he asked that I go with them and be "behind the scenes" just in case....

Allie was adorable in her beautiful red dress and Daddy in his suit. After a few pictures at home, we loaded up in the car and headed to Druid Hills. Allie and David enjoyed a few dances, and then they sat by the dance floor and watched all the bigger girls run around and "dance".....this was Allie's favorite part. She laughed and flapped her arms in joy at all the other girls. Not unexpectedly, after about half an hour, Allie was feeling a bit sleepy. After a quick picture by the Druid Hills photographer, we loaded Allie up and managed to get her home and ready for bed after only a minor meltdown (she was very sleepy!). It was a wonderful evening watching Allie and her Daddy at their first Father-Daughter dance....I can't wait until next year.

Just having fun....

The past couple of weeks have been fun with Allie. She continues to learn new things everyday, and she has mastered the art of crawling and pulling up on any piece of furniture that she can get near. One problem though...she doesn't realize that when she pulls up, she must continue to hold on. She's notorious for pulling up, finding a toy to play with, grabbing the toy with both hands, and then tumbling to a head thump because she forgot that she cannot yet stand on her own. All the head bumps and lovely bruises haven't phased her though. She continues to be a dare devil. She will clearly not be one of those babies that's "afraid to let go" and walk.

Last week, Allie and I traveled with David for a quick trip to New York City. We stayed in a great hotel in Times Square and had a wonderful dinner in this restaurant with the best view of Times Square that you can ever imagine.

While David continued traveling, Allie and I returned home and spent a couple of days at Granny's house. Allie had a great time helping Granny unpack her suitcase and playing on the swings at the neighborhood playground.

As you can see, Allie has been busy with new teeth as well! Her two front teeth on the bottom just shine when she smiles, and she now has two new teeth on the top, a middle tooth and the one next to it. A bit of an unusual pattern for cutting teeth, I know, but the other upper middle tooth is starting to pop through, so hopefully her cute little smile won't look so off-center for much longer.

Here's proof that Allie is exploring and can crawl absolutely anywhere that she wishes. This is where I found her the other day....UNDER her jumperoo playing with it from the underside. What a character!

And finally, as most of you know, David and I were able to share some great news with Allie this week...she's gonna be a BIG SISTER to a bouncing BABY BROTHER! I'm sure he'll never torture her by pulling the arms and legs off of her dolls, eavesdropping on her phone calls, or make fun of her for talking to a boy.....What fun challenges lie ahead for us!!!

BIG Happenings!

This week has been full of excitement. Allie has: 1) learned how to crawl, and boy is she fast; 2) learned how to pull up, and she would much rather be on her feet than on her hands and knees; 3) learned that she loves to feed herself Cheerios; and 4) cut two new teeth on the top. As I should have expected, Allie is quick to pull up on various pieces of furniture and in her crib, but she doesn't quite understand that she can't yet let go of the furniture. This has resulted in several falls with subsequent crying. We've even had one bloody lip :( She survived, and so did I. Everyone tells me that there's many more such events to come, so I better get used to it!

I've tried to videotape the crawling, but it seems that each time she starts to crawl, I run grab the camera and she stops. She then just sits there and watches me video her instead of showing off her new skills to the camera! Frustrating! Eventually I'll catch it on film!
